The Botnica is an Estonian multi-purpose icebreaker which is used as an icebreaker on the Baltic Sea in winter and as a supplier for offshore facilities in summer. The hull and the drive are optimized for the ice break, the superstructures resemble those of a utility.

The ship was built in 1997/98 at the Finnish shipyard Aker Finnyards for the Finnish shipping administration. Operated the ship was, first by the Finnish Shipping Enterprise (Finstaship) and is used today by the Arctia Offshore OY, a company of Arctia Shipping OY bereedert . The keel was laid on September 2, 1997, the launch on February 20, 1998.

The drive is diesel-electric . Large generators for power generation are built into the fuselage. The two drive motors drive the pod propulsion system , which is attached to the aft under the ship and can be controlled independently of one another. The bollard pull is given as around 117 tons.
