Ulf Stolterfoht (born June 8, 1963 in Stuttgart ) is a German writer .

Life

After completing community service , Ulf Stolterfoht studied German and general linguistics in Bochum and Tübingen . Stolterfoht writes poetry and essays critical of language , which have been published in numerous anthologies (including Der Große Conrady ) and literary magazines. He made his debut in 1998 with the volume of poetry technical I-IX at Urs Engeler Editor .

In 2005, Stolterfoht's broadcast of Gertrude Stein's Winning His Way appeared . From 2008 to 2009 and in the summer semester 2013 he was visiting professor at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig . Since 2014 he has been a member of the German Academy for Language and Poetry in Darmstadt . He is also a member of the PEN Center Germany .

In 2015 Ulf Stolterfoht founded the Brüterich Press publishing house , in which he publishes books by authors whose texts he feels connected to under the motto “Difficult books at a very high price”.

Ulf Stolterfoht lives in Berlin.

style

Stolterfoht's poetry works with fragments from different areas of knowledge and language layers of German. He ventures into foreign text worlds and incorporates their linguistic material, characters, melodies and moods into his work. His techniques include montage , compilation and satirical . His poetry is characterized by artistry and technical mastery. It offers “bulky, yet enjoyable food, melodically light, of great rhythmic beauty”.
