The Breitenauriegel (colloquially also called Breitenauer Riegel ) is a mountain in the Bavarian Forest .
The mountain is 1116 m above sea level. NHN high and rises in the ridge of the Upper Bavarian Forest near Bischofsmais and the neighboring mountains Geißkopf and Dreitannenriegel .
At the highest point there is a summit rock with a summit cross and a view to the northwest towards Gotteszell . The Oberbreitenau plateau extends north of the Breitenauriegel in the direction of the Geißkopf . Various hiking trails lead from Habischried , Bischofsmais , Rusel and Rohrmünz , including the Main-Donau-Weg with the east line, to the summit. About 750 meters southeast of the summit is a service hut belonging to the Deggendorf mountain rescue service .
The summit and a large proportion of the slope areas belong to the FFH area Deggendorfer Vorwald .
