Breitenhof has been part of Breitenbrunn / Erzgeb since it was incorporated on July 1, 1935 . in the Saxon Erzgebirgskreis .

history

Breitenhof was originally an official, unshocked Hammergut with hammer mill in the Schwarzenberg district office in the Erzgebirge district , on the Schwarzwasser , 1 ½ hours south of Schwarzenberg.

The hammer mill was built in 1570 by Bohemian immigrants from the mountain town of Platten . At that time, the brothers Hans and Christoph Müller von Berneck had a vitriol and sulfur hut built for their St. Christoph pit, in accordance with the concession granted to them by Elector August in 1569. In the middle of the 18th century, the hammer owner Coith, who, as the mine’s trade, played a key role in its decline, had the dilapidated smelter next to the hammer mill demolished and appropriated the smelting works and the associated St. Christopher mine forest. The hammer mill with its very substantial economy had belonged to the von Elterlein family from the second third of the 18th century , who also owned the inheritance courts and tried in vain to keep the St. Christopher mine forest in their possession. The Hammergut, including its accessories, was inhabited by around 200 people. The hammer itself consisted of two Hohenöfen, a rod and two tin fire and a tin house . The blast furnace at Schwefelhütte had previously died and had been relocated here with royal permission.

In 1883, Breitenhof was connected to the railway line from Schwarzenberg to Johanngeorgenstadt .
