Brettach is a district of Bretzfeld in Hohenlohekreis in northern Baden-Württemberg . It is different from the district of the same name, less than 16 km northwest of it, in the municipality of Langenbrettach .

geography

Brettach lies on the left slope of the valley in a loop of the Brettach Valley below Maienfels .

history

Brettach was first mentioned in 1376 as Ober- and Niederbrettach . His fate was closely linked to Maienfels Castle and the municipality of the same name (now part of Wüstenrot ). In 1423 it was sold with Maienfels by the Lords of Weinsberg to the Electoral Palatinate . In 1805 both came to the Kingdom of Württemberg as a result of the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss and were initially assigned to the Oberamt Öhringen , and in 1809 to the Oberamt Weinsberg . When it was dissolved in 1926, Maienfels (and thus Brettach as part of Maienfels) came back to the Oberamt Öhringen (from 1938: district of Öhringen ). The municipality of Maienfels was incorporated into Wüstenrot in the Heilbronn district on January 1, 1974 . On December 8, 1975, the Brettacher decided to separate Maienfels and Wüstenrot. With the reunification to Bretzfeld, Brettach moved to the Hohenlohe district on January 1, 1977.
