Brigitte Oelke

Brigitte Margrit Oelke (born May 25 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss singer , actress , dancer and musical artist .

Life

Brigitte Oelke came into contact with music very early on. Her mother leads the children's choir of the St. Gallen City Theater, in which Brigitte herself sings at an early age. She is also learning several instruments ( piano , accordion , guitar and recorder ). Still, singing is her greatest passion. A friend of the family, Prof. Kurt Pahlen , helps ensure that she receives a first-class musical education.

During her apprenticeship as a commercial clerk, Brigitte Oelke gained a lot of experience as a front woman, for example with her first band Sterling or "Nightgambler , with whom she is touring Switzerland for the first time.

At the age of 19 and after completing her initial training, she spends a year as an au pair in Los Angeles . There she takes singing, jazz and tap dance lessons. In St. Gallen, Bregenz and Vienna, she finally got private singing and acting lessons. In Germany she is leaving the Hamburg Stage School of Music Dance and Drama as a qualified actress.

Brigitte Oelke has been married to Robert Würges since 2014 and lives in Berlin.

Career

In 1997 she worked with Roman Polański and Jim Steinman at the world premiere of Tanz der Vampire in Vienna. Shortly thereafter, she worked with the German director Dietrich Hilsdorf on the German premiere of the musical Jekyll & Hyde . In November 2000 she won the election of one of three candidates who should make the Swiss contribution to the German preliminary decision of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2001. Together with Lesley Bogaert and Joy Fleming , she presented the song “Power of Trust” and took second place.

From December 2004 to October 2006 she played the role of the "Killer Queen" in the Queen musical We Will Rock You in Cologne , giving her the opportunity to work with her former idols Brian May and Roger Taylor . In December 2006 she moved to Zurich with the Swiss production of this musical, and from January 2008 it will be shown for the Austrian premiere at the Raimund Theater in Vienna. From November 2008 to September 2010 Brigitte Oelke also played the Killer Queen in We Will Rock You at the Apollo Theater in Stuttgart , and from October 2010 to October 2011 in Berlin at the Theater des Westens . From December 2012 to March 2013 she played the role of the Killer Queen again in Switzerland, in the Musical Theater Basel. From April 2013 to June 2013 in Essen in the Colosseum Theater and from September 2014 to April 2015 in Munich in the Deutsches Theater, in the Alte Oper Frankfurt, Stadthalle Vienna and in the Mehr-Theater am Großmarkt in Hamburg.

From 2012 to 2013 she played Mama Morton in the musical Chicago at the St. Gallen Theater . In the same year 2012 she played the role of Acid Queen in the rock opera Tommy (The Who) at Theater Bielefeld until 2013 . In 2013 she can also be seen at the Bielefeld Theater in the musical City of Angels (musical) in the double role of Carla Haywood / Alaura Kingsley.

At the world premiere of the rock opera Jedermann (rock opera) by Wolfgang Böhmer and Peter Lund , she thrilled as the first female death at the DomStufen Festival in Erfurt. As Norma Desmond in the musical Sunset Boulevard (musical) , you can see her at the Bielefeld Theater from 2015 to 2016. With the new production of Mozart! (Musical) directed by Harry Kupfer she plays the role of Caecilia Weber at the Raimund Theater in Vienna from September 2015 to March 2016.
