Brigitte Rau

Brigitte Susanne Rau (born December 31, 1933 in Berlin ; † September 24, 1979 in Hampstead , London ; married Brigitte Möller ) was a German actress .

Life

Brigitte Rau was born in 1933 as the daughter of Otto Kurt Rau and Martha Adele Örtel. She appeared on stage as an actress, but she was primarily known through cinema and television films. Rau often starred in comedies and music films. Her first film role was in the family film The Battle of the Tertia in 1952 . In 1954 she married her professional colleague Gunnar Möller , with whom she could be seen in the music film Love and Trumpet Blowing that same year . She continued her acting career after her marriage under her maiden name. The marriage to Gunnar Möller had three children.

Directed by Peter Beauvais , she starred in Isn't Mama Fabulous? She also acted at the side of her husband, for example in the Werner family on trips , a television series. Here she gave Brigitte Werner, wife of the teacher Hans Werner, whom her husband embodied. In the television series The Guests of Felix Hechinger (director: Rolf von Sydow ) Brigitte Rau played the role of Monika Lenz in the series Marriage in Danger , her husband gave her husband Peter Lenz.

In the 1970s, Gunnar Möller and Brigitte Rau mainly appeared together in theater productions, including a. also at what was then the Hanover State Theater . In 1977 both appeared on stage in Heinz Coubier's comedy Aimée , directed by Helmut Käutner .

Circumstances of death

In 1979 Möller struck his wife to death in London as a result of a dispute over her wish for a divorce. At that time, the couple's marriage was already considered broken by affairs, alcohol and disputes. The family had previously changed homes several times before settling in London's bohemian Hampstead.

After the fact, Möller turned himself in to the police. His case went to court in London and the actor was sentenced to five years in prison, of which he served two years.
