Bromberg is a village and a cadastral municipality in the Grafenschlag municipality in the Zwettl district in Lower Austria . The place is located at about 820 meters above sea level southwest of Grafenschlag on a ridge between Purzelkamp and the Grötschenbach . In the local area there is also the single location Hintermühle and the Sattelhof .

It was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1273 as "villula Promberch". The name is derived from the Middle High German word "brame" for blackberry bush and refers to the mountain overgrown with these bushes. It originally belonged to the Maissau rulership , then came to the Rapottenstein rulership in 1305 . After 1850 the place was part of the municipality of Kleinnondorf and after its dissolution on January 1, 1967, it became part of the greater municipality of Grafenschlag.
