Bread and Stones is a feature film with Liselotte Pulver and Sigfrit Steiner from 1979.
action
The political waves are high in the Emmental village of Breitiwil. A large corporation wants to expand its branch. The soil farmer, owner of an industrial pig fattening, has sold land that had previously been leased to the young Widimatt farmer Hans. Now he and his mother stand in front of a pile of broken glass. But the old vet in the village encourages him not to just give up.
production
In his second feature film, the filmmaker Mark Rissi showed the struggle for survival of a smallholder family. The German premiere took place on January 18, 1987 on EinsPlus. In Germany the film was shown as a dialect version with German subtitles.
Bread and Stones was the last feature film for which the German film composer Martin Böttcher ( Edgar Wallace films , Karl May films ) contributed music; These were already existing recordings that had been made for another, but unrealized film ( The Orphans ).
criticism
The film service said that “the commitment to the numerous urgent concerns [finds] no consistently convincing directorial equivalent; Nevertheless, the film is a contribution worth considering and discussing ”.
