Walther Kauer
Walther Kauer (born September 4, 1935 in Bern , † April 27, 1987 in Murten , Canton of Friborg ) was a Swiss writer.
Life
Walther Kauer attended the École des Arts et Métiers in Neuchâtel , completed training as a curative teacher in Aberdeen , followed by a few semesters of study at the Free University of Berlin . He worked temporarily as a journalist and after his return to Switzerland lived first in Castasegna , then in Murten. There he was killed in a motorcycle accident.
He made a name for himself above all with his idiosyncratic novels; one of them, Spätholz , was made into a film in 1983. He also wrote plays, film scripts and radio plays. His estate is in the Swiss Literary Archives in Bern .
Kauer was a member of the SSV , the Society of Swiss Dramatists and the Swiss Union of Journalists . He received several awards for his highly socially critical work.
