history
Due to the provisions of the Versailles Treaty , the population in the Allenstein voting area , to which Browienen belonged, voted on July 11, 1920 on whether they would continue to belong to East Prussia (and thus Germany) or join Poland. In Browienen, 72 people voted to remain with East Prussia, while Poland had 47 votes.
geography
location
Browina is located around 15 km southwest of Olsztynek (Hohenstein) and around 20 km northwest of Nidzica (Neidenburg) . The Maruszka River flows south of the village and is crossed by a bridge to the neighboring village of Turowo . Browina is located in the southern part of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . Since the village is situated high up, there has not yet been any flooding.
The neighboring villages of Browina are north Łubian , east Turówek , south Turowo and west Ulnowo .
Village subdivision
Even if there are no official districts, the residents distinguish between four sub-areas: 1. Dołek (German valley), 2. Górka (German mountain), 3. Las (German forest) and 4. Przed Browiną (German. Before Browina). Most of the population lives in Górka.
climate
In winter 2005/2006 record minus temperatures of down to −35 ° C were reached at night. The summer in Browina corresponds to that in Germany, with highs of 32 ° C and quite a lot of precipitation .
lake
The only lake in the village can be found in Dołek: Bagno Browińskie (Frozen Lake). It is estimated to be half a meter deep. Below this half meter there is another half meter of mud. However, the lake threatens to tip over . The area is as follows: To the north a road leads to the next part of the village (Górka), to the south is the Dołek part, to the west and east there is only arable land.
economy
The rather poor village is characterized by agriculture . In all directions Browina is surrounded by agricultural fields. Five farmers are currently employed in the village (as of January 2007). Thus 40.74% of the population are fed by agriculture. 33.33% are commuters and work in nearby locations. 20.37% live on their pension and the remaining 5.56% are unemployed . In the building of the German primary school, which was inaugurated in 1913, there is now (2015) an agritourism guesthouse.
