Brunei International 2004

The Brunei International 2004 took place from July 26th to 31st, 2004 in Bandar Seri Begawan , the capital of Brunei . The women's squash tournament was part of the WSA World Tour 2003/04 and belonged to the WSA Gold 35 category . The prize money was $ 43,500. The venue was the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium .

Vanessa Atkinson , who was seeded in second place , faced top seeded Rachael Grinham in the final , who she defeated 10: 8, 9: 5, 3: 9, 2: 9 and 10: 8. It was Atkinson's tenth title win on the World Tour, while Grinham had already secured the lead in the world rankings on August 1, 2004 after her semi-final victory against her sister Natalie Grinham . World number leader Cassie Jackman had to cancel her participation in advance due to an injury.

The field of participants in the women's competition consisted of 16 players, four of which were starting places for qualifiers. The eight best players were seeded. A wildcard was not awarded.
