Bruno Ateba Edo SAC (born November 20, 1964 in Zoétélé , South Region , Cameroon ) is Bishop of Maroua-Mokolo .

Life

Bruno Ateba Edo joined the Pallottine Order in 1988 and studied philosophy at the Kabgayi Major Seminary in Rwanda and Catholic theology at the École Théologique Saint Cyprien in Ngoya ( Yaoundé ), Cameroon . He made his first profession on August 15, 1989 and the perpetual vows on October 2, 1994. After his ordination on July 8, 1995, he was assistant and then pastor of Peter and Paul in Yaoundé (1995–2001). From 2001 to 2003 he completed a licensed degree in pastoral theology at the Philosophical-Theological University of Vallendar and was rector of the Marie-Reine des Apôtres de Mvolyé basilica in Yaoundé from 2003 to 2009 . In 2008 he became regional superior of the Pallottines for Cameroon and Nigeria; since 2013 chairman of the Conference of Superiors of the Order of Cameroon.

On April 5, 2014, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Maroua-Mokolo . On May 17, 2014, Piero Pioppo , the apostolic nuncio in Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea , was ordained a bishop in Maroua . Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Douala , Samuel Kleda , and his predecessor Philippe Albert Joseph Stevens . As a motto he chose Caritas Christi Urget nos (The love of Christ urges us). Due to the large number of participants, the consecration service took place in the football stadium in Maroua.
