Bruno De Filippi

Bruno De Filippi (born May 8, 1930 in Milan ; † January 17, 2010 ibid) was an Italian musician ( guitar , harmonica ) and composer .

Live and act

At the beginning of his musical career, De Filippi worked with various groups on the Milanese jazz scene. He also played with guest international musicians such as Bud Shank , Gerry Mulligan , Astor Piazzolla ( Summit , 1974) and Les Paul . He also accompanied pop singers like Mina ("Tintarella di luna"), Caterina Valente , Johnny Dorelli , Ornella Vanoni and had appearances in music films such as I ragazzi del juke-box (1959). In the 1960s he worked with Enzo Jannacci , in the 1970s with Mina and Angelo Branduardi. During this time he began to play the chromatic harmonica. From 1986 he began making recordings under his own name, including the Metamorfosi jazz suite , which he wrote for harmonica and string quartet . In 1992 he recorded the album Bruno De Filippi in New York with the trio of pianist Don Friedman . The collaboration with Friedman led to further albums and concerts in Europe and the United States, with appearances at New York's Town Hall , Birdland and the Blue Note as well as Chicago's Green Mill . De Filippi has also worked with Pino Daniele , Ornella Vanoni , Toto Cutugno , Gino Paoli , Pino Presti , Tullio De Piscopo , gli Articolo 31 , Romano Mussolini , Rossana Casale , Pino D'Angiò , Toquinho , and Teresa De Sio since the 1980s .
