Bruno Ehrlich

Alfred Bruno Ehrlich (born May 28, 1868 in Danzig ; † February 7, 1945 in Elbing ) was a German teacher and local history researcher who dealt in particular with questions of prehistory and early history .

Life

The son of the hat manufacturer Gottfried Ehrlich passed his Abitur in 1886 in Danzig and then studied classical philology , German and Protestant theology in Königsberg, Marburg, Berlin and Breslau. During his studies in 1887 he became a member of the Germania Breslau fraternity . He received his doctorate from the University of Breslau in 1894. Then taught at various grammar schools in West Prussia , finally from 1905 to 1938 as a teacher at the Elbing grammar school, which he directed from 1916 to 1918. From 1914 to 1916 he served in World War I, most recently as captain. From 1916 to 1938 he was a part-time director of the Elbing Municipal Museum and editor of the Elbinger Jahrbuch . He was also the chairman of several regional historical associations.
