The sea rescue boat (SRB) Bruntje was a boat of the so-called 7-meter class of the German Society for the Rescue of Shipwrecked People (DGzRS). It was built in 1972 by the Evers shipyard in Niendorf under construction number 509. The internal name was KRST 16.

Naming

The name Bruntje is a Frisian woman's name.

The name Mövenort , to which the boat was renamed in February 1990, is the name of the area around the northern tip of the island of Rügen .

Technical Equipment

The lifeboat was equipped with radio systems, echo sounder , GPS , external bilge pump and a rescue port. Like all "real" boats of the 7 m class, the boat had no radar device (further explanation: Kaatje sea rescue boat ).

Stationings

Heiligenhafen was the first station of the Bruntje from July 14, 1972 . From October 1975 the boat was used in Burgtiefe on the island of Fehmarn until it was moved to Puttgarden on June 1, 1986 . From there, in February 1990, it was handed over to the GDR emergency services and relocated to the final location in Freest . There the boat was in service under the name Mövenort until it was withdrawn from the DGzRS - due to the reunification, now owner of the boat again - on November 19, 1992.

The DGzRS then sold the boat to the sea rescue service of the Netherlands Antilles , where it was in service until 2003 under the name Citro 2 (after the name of the local rescue organization "Citizens Rescue Organization"). The boat came back to Europe by ship at the beginning of 2004 and was to be exhibited in the “Nationaal Reddingmuseum Dorus Rijkers” in Den Helder / Netherlands . In November 2005 the boat was sold to a German private citizen. On August 24, 2007 the Bruntje was officially christened in the Maritime Museum in Haren / Ems and can be viewed there.
