Burchard Bösche (born September 14, 1946 in Martfeld -Loge; † October 23, 2019 in Hamburg ) was a German lawyer , trade unionist and author of books on cooperatives. Since 2014 he has been head of the Hamburg Cooperative Museum .

Burchard Bösche was the son of the farmer Johann Bösche and his wife Elisabeth Bösche. He grew up on a traditional farm in Lower Saxony. In 1963 he graduated from secondary school in Hoya and began an apprenticeship as a retail salesman in the food sector in Bremen , which he successfully completed in 1965. From 1965 to 1966 he was a branch manager in his training company . He then studied business administration at the Business Academy in Bremen . In 1968 he began studying law at the Free University of Berlin via the second educational path . The training was continued in 1971 at the newly opened University of Bremen as part of the one-stage legal training , which he completed in 1977. He then worked on a dissertation on labor law . He completed his studies with a doctorate.

From 1979 to 1981 he was a teacher at the Oberjosbach training center, which is affiliated with the food-gourmet-restaurants union (NGG) and is a training center primarily for works councils . He then worked for 10 years (1982–1992) as a union secretary in the Frankfurt / Main administrative office of the NGG union. He published a book about this time. From 1992 to 1997 he was head of division in the head office of his union in Hamburg , most recently as secretary of the board.

Since 1997 he has been a partner in the law firm Zimmermann, Scholz und Partner. From 2000 to 2011 he was a board member of the Central Association of German Consumer Cooperatives , and from 2003 onwards he was full-time. He was involved in the establishment of numerous cooperatives and has emerged as the author of cooperative law publications. Since 2000 he has also been a board member of the Heinrich Kaufmann Foundation, since 2007 board member of the Heinrich Stegemann Art Foundation , since 2011 board member of the coop foundation Our North and since 2012 board member of the Auditing Association of German Consumer and Service Cooperatives eV, Berlin.

Burchard Bösche was significantly involved in the organization of the annual meetings on the history of the cooperative, which have been held with international participation since 2006, mostly in Hamburg.

Under his leadership, the Heinrich Kaufmann Foundation has published numerous cooperative publications, including a. the conference volumes of the historical conferences, but also many historical texts, such as the cooperative songbook by Heinrich Kaufmann from 1910. His main work is the biography of Adolf von Elm . In 2018 he published further biographies at the Heinrich Kaufmann Foundation: a book about the cooperative Ferdinand Vieth (1869–1946) and a book about the unionist Helma Steinbach .

A major publication project was the publication of the complete collection of the issues of the International Cooperative Bulletin , which were published monthly together in London and Hamburg during the First World War. There are four annual volumes with over 1,200 pages, a first-rate source for economic and social development in the warring states of Europe and the neutral neighbors affected.

In 1986 he founded Slow Food Hamburg in the headquarters of the NGG trade union in Hamburg. For 8 years he was head of the Hamburg convivium . From 1998–2006 he was one of the organizers of the Kiekeberg cheese market and played a key role in the founding of the Schleswig-Holstein Käsestrasse (2000).

With Annegret Moderegger, he founded the Heinrich Stegemann Art Foundation in December 2007 , of which he was a member. The foundation is dedicated to art in public spaces, early music with a Hamburg connection, especially to the Gänsemarkt Opera and generally to art with a democratic claim. Funded were u. a. Murals about the brawn riots in 1919, about the founders of the “Produktion” cooperative , about the judicial murder of the young resister Helmuth Hübener and the strike in the Lauensteinschen wagon factory (1869) (mural at the Hamburg union building ). The foundation has initiated various exhibitions, including a. together with the Alfred Toepfer Foundation FVS : Heinrich Stegemann 1888–1945, Pictures from War (2015) and with the Hamburg State and University Library : Painting and Sculpture in Germany 1936. Burchard Bösche was married to Annegret Moderegger, a former judge at the Hamburg district court and artist. He lived in Hamburg-Stellingen .
