Burkhard Mojsisch

Burkhard Mojsisch (born August 13, 1944 in Guben ; † June 22, 2015 ) was a German philosopher and university professor .

Live and act

Mojsisch received his doctorate in 1974 at the Ruhr University Bochum with a thesis on Dietrich von Freiberg , and in 1982 he completed his habilitation there with a paper on Meister Eckhart . In 1987 he was appointed adjunct professor in Bochum and promoted to professor in 1992. He later succeeded Kurt Flasch as a full professor of philosophy with special emphasis on the philosophy of antiquity and the Middle Ages . In summer 2009 Mojsisch retired.

Mojsisch was director and co-editor of the Corpus Philosophorum Teutonicorum Medii Aevi , co-editor of the Bochum Philosophical Yearbook for Antiquity and the Middle Ages , co-editor of the Bochum Studies on Philosophy and external member of the Georgian Academy of Sciences .

His research areas were ancient philosophy, especially Plato and Aristotle , and medieval philosophy, especially Meister Eckhart, Dietrich von Freiberg and Nikolaus von Kues .
