The Burmecke rises and runs in the northern part of the Rothaargebirge and flows entirely in the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge Nature Park . Its source is in the wooded transition area between the Nordhelle ( 792.2  m above sea  level ) and its north-eastern foothills, Eschenberg ( 726  m ) with the Eschenberg ski area on the other side or east of the mountain peak at an altitude of about 693  m .

Shortly after its source in the district of the village of Niedersfeld (northern district of Winterberg ), the Burmecke enters the district of the village of Siedlinghausen (northwestern district of Winterberg). It flows between the Nordhelle with its Silberberg ( 747.5  m ) in the south and the Hohen Hagen ( 729  m ) with its Iberg ( 703.7  m ) in the north almost exclusively to the west. Then the Burmecke leaves the forest after about 900 m flowing distance, where it bridges the European long-distance hiking trail E1 . Then the brook , lined with trees and bushes, runs through the Burmecke industrial area belonging to Siedlinghausen , and immediately after flowing through it , it passes under the state road  740 ( Silbach –Siedlinghausen).

About 200 meters below the road bridge , the Burmecke flows between the villages of Silbach (northwestern Winterberg district) in the south and Siedlinghausen in the north at an altitude of around 504  m in the Neger tributary nameless coming from the south .
