The association is older than the organization Transparency International (TI), which was founded in 1993 and focuses on corruption , and, despite the greater attention that the media pays TI, has always pursued the goal of particularly illegal and illegitimate practices and the abuse of power in the economy to put at the center of the educational work. In contrast to Transparency International, neither government nor semi-government organizations are involved in the financing of BCC, nor can commercial enterprises become BCC members. The association is financed through membership fees, donations and the transfer of a fine.
