Buvika is a place in Norway and belongs to the municipality of Skaun in Trøndelag . Bivika is located on the Gaulosen, a branch of the Trondheimsfjord , about 3.5 km from the mouth of the Gaula River. Buvika is located in the middle between the towns of Børsa and Leinstrand . The postcode of the place is 7350. The village was the administrative center of the former Buvik municipality . The Buvik church is in the village.

Together with Ilhaugen it forms the Tettsted ( locality ) Buvika / Ilhaugen . The largest residential areas of Buvika are Ilhaugen, Brekka, Lereggen and Havenget.

Buvika has seen strong population growth recently. Due to the European route E39 , the place has a good infrastructure, which increases the influx of people into the place itself and the municipality of Skaun. The proximity to Trondheim , about 22 km away, is also an advantage . Buvika / Ilhaugen only has a few jobs of its own. Many residents therefore commute to work in the surrounding areas.

Until January 1, 1965, Buvika was part of Buvik Municipality .

At the company Piene Mølle in Buvika there was a hard labor dispute from 1913 to 1914 with a major strike in which the union leader Marius Folstad was shot by the strike breaker Alf Egset. The incident later formed the basis for the dramatic theater and music piece Skottet i Buvika ( Shot in Buvika) by Idar Lind (text) and Knut Anders Vestad (music), which premiered on May 1, 2008 at Trøndelag Teater in Trondheim.
