Cédric Gschwind (* 23. November 1985 in Therwil ) is a Swiss jazz - saxophonist and composer .

Life

Gschwind received his first saxophone lessons at the age of ten. He soon made his first contact with jazz in class with jazz singer and saxophonist Ann Malcolm , who introduced him to improvisation at an early age . In parallel to his commercial apprenticeship, he attended the Basel Jazz School and took lessons from Domenic Landolf . During this time, at the age of 16, he gained his first stage experience throughout Switzerland. From 2005 to 2010 Gschwind studied at the Basel Jazz School with saxophonists Domenic Landolf, Andy Scherrer and trombonist Adrian Mears . A year abroad in Vienna also took him to Klaus Dickbauer . In 2010 he completed the "Master of Arts in Music / Jazz Saxophone". While still a student he founded the jazz quartet Klangquadrat , for which he also works as a composer .

Currently (2012) he works with the formations Klangquadrat (with Marco Nenniger (bass), Jonas Windscheid (guitar), Daniel Mudrack (drums)), the Swiss Army Big Band under the direction of Johannes Walter, the Christoph Walter Orchestra and in the Barbara Bruckmüller Big Band Vienna. In addition to jazz, more popular styles of music such as funk and pop music also play a major role for him . His concert activities have taken him to Germany, Austria, France, Holland, Liechtenstein and Russia.

The musicians and bands he has played with include the Swiss Jazz Orchestra , Zurich Jazz Orchestra , Anna Rossinelli , Pepe Lienhard , Paul Kuhn , Klaus Doldinger , Donna Summer and Lou Bega . He also took part in recordings for Memellow, Lama, the Monotones, DJ Mark Stone, Swiss Army Game and Chinderwält .
