Cédric Van Branteghem ( Cédric Marie Carlos Thérèse "Cedje" Van Branteghem ; born March 13, 1979 in Ghent ) is a Belgian sprinter .

Van Branteghem won his first Belgian championship title in 2001 in the 400-meter run , and in 2002 he won the 200-meter run . At the European Championships in Munich in 2002 Van Branteghem reached the final over 400 meters and finished sixth in 45.95 s. In 2003 he increased his personal best several times and was again Belgian champion over 200 meters. At the Van Damme Memorial in Brussels, he improved over 400 meters to 45.02 s, undercutting Alfons Brijdenbach's 27-year-old record . At the World Championships in Paris-Saint-Denis he reached the semi-finals over 400 meters and the quarter-finals over 200 meters (his last start over this distance in international championships). He also reached the semi-finals over 400 meters at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.

In 2005 over 400 and 2006 over 200 meters, he won two more Belgian championship titles. At the World Championships in Helsinki he was eliminated in the preliminary stages, but was fourth at the Universiade in İzmir .

At the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg, he was eliminated in the preliminary stages, and at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, he again reached the semi-finals in the individual competition. The Belgian relay with Jonathan Borlée , Kevin Borlée and Arnaud Ghislain reached the final in the 4 x 400 meter relay and finished fifth in 2: 59.37 minutes. During this time they improved the Belgian record of 1981. Van Branteghem was able to take Fons Brijdenbach's second outdoor record, which had also held for 27 years.

In 2009 he was eliminated from the World Championships in Berlin . The following year Van Branteghem was the starting runner of the Belgian 4 x 400 meter relay at the World Indoor Championships in Doha ; together with Kevin and Jonathan Borlée and Antoine Gillet he won the silver medal behind the US relay in 3: 06.94 min. At the European Championships in Barcelona he won bronze in the same discipline together with Arnaud Destatte and the Borlée brothers.

Cédric Van Branteghem is 1.77 m tall and weighs 72 kg. He lives in Lovendegem and is trained by Patrick Himschoot.
