The Conservative Political Action Conference ( CPAC ) is an annual political conference with conservative activists and elected representatives from across the United States . The CPAC is organized by the American Conservative Union Foundation (ACUF). More than 100 organizations contribute to the organization. Human Events , the Young America's Foundation, and the National Rifle Association are three of the most prominent sponsors in recent years.

history

March 15, 2013: Nikki Haley , 2017 Donald Trump appointed US UN ambassador before the CPAC 2013, in a real estate project National Harbor ( Prince George's County , the State of Maryland )

The conference was founded in 1973 by the American Conservative Union (ACU) and the Young Americans for Freedom , a small group of dedicated Conservatives. Over the years the event has grown to thousands of visitors. Approximately half are college-aged visitors. An invitation to the American Atheists organization in 2014 was withdrawn on the day it was issued. Neo-Nazi and white supremacy activist Richard B. Spencer was kicked out of the conference hotel by organizers in an attempt to attend a CPAC conference on February 23, 2017, with the director of ACU Spencer's positions on Alt-Right as "left Fascism ”branded.

A “civil war of conservatism ” took place in 2011 when the political direction was disputed: Well-known conservative organizations such as the Heritage Foundation , Family Research Council and the American Family Association and Senator Jim DeMint boycotted the conference. Mike Huckabee stayed away from the 2010 and 2011 conferences. He feared that the conference would develop in a direction that was too libertarian .
