Carlo Cabigiosu
Carlo Cabigiosu (born June 22, 1939 in Bruneck , South Tyrol ) is a former general in the Italian army . From October 2000 to April 2001 he led the KFOR peacekeeping force in Kosovo .
Military career
Cabigiosu joined the Italian army in 1959 as an officer candidate . After attending the military academy in Modena and Turin , he served as platoon leader and from 1967 as company commander in the Alpini . In 1970 he returned to the Military Academy in Modena as a trainer and lecture hall director. From 1972 to 1975 he completed general staff courses at the command academies of the army and armed forces in Rome . In 1976 he was on the staff of the Alpini Brigade Julia in Udine . In 1978 he began a general staff course at Staff College in Camberley, UK. After graduating, he served with the Army General Staff in Rome. From 1981 to 1983 he commanded the Susa Alpine Battalion , which was then part of the "NATO Allied Mobile Force - Land" (AMF-L). He then worked with the Army General Staff for another four years, with a short break.
From 1987 to 1990 Cabigiosu was a military attaché at the Italian embassy in Bonn . After a short time at the head of the Alpini Brigade Taurinense in Turin , he became head of the operations department (G3) of the Army General Staff in 1991 and then deputy office manager of the Defense Minister.
From 1995 to 1997 he was deputy commander of the Aliied Rapid Reaction Corps in the JHQ near Rheindahlen , Germany . In this capacity, he also took part in the "Joint Endeavor" operation in Sarajevo in 1996 . After a short time as the commander of a territorial command, he became Chief of Staff of the NATO command AFSOUTH in Naples in 1999 . From October 2000 to April 2001 he was Lieutenant General in command of the KFOR troops in Kosovo . Then he took over the management of the operational command of the armed forces in Rome until June 2002 .
