Cadwell Park is a racing circuit in Lincolnshire , England , five miles south of Louth . It is owned and operated by Jonathan Palmer ’s Motorsport Vision company .

The route has valleys and crests because it is in a steep valley. It has fast sloping corners, including a section called The Mountain where motorcycles take off. The mix of challenging corners led to the nickname "Mini Nürburgring ".

Location description

The circuit is located in the Lincolnshire Wolds between Louth and Horncastle on the A 153, about 15 miles further east is the North Sea .

history

Cadwell Park was created in 1934 by Mansfield Wilkinson from Louth. His sons originally used the area for races with their own motorcycles and this is how today's ring developed. In 1953 the line was extended to almost twice the length of 2.1 kilometers. The track was expanded in 1962 to today's 3.62 kilometer long track and hosted the British Formula 3 Championship the following May. Some of the curves were named after family members, e.g. B. Mansfield, Charlie and Chris.

use

The lane is considered too narrow for top-class car racing. The course is mainly used for motorcycle racing. The most popular event on the ring's racing calendar is the British Superbike Championship , which takes place every August. The British Superkart Grand Prix is also an annual event.

In addition, articles for the British motorized television magazine Fifth Gear are shot here, in which the racing driver Tiff Needell is often represented.
