Prince Calixt Gustav Hermann Biron of Courland (* 3. January 1817 in Schleise , † 8. March 1882 in Wartenberg ) was a Prussian nobleman , soldier and politician and gentleman on wholesale Wartenberg.

Calixt Biron von Curland came from the noble family Biron von Curland . His parents were the Prussian Lieutenant General Gustav Kalixt von Biron (1780-1821) and his wife Countess Antoinette Charlotte Luise Franziska Fanny von Maltzan (* 23 September 1790; † 25 May 1849). After the early death of his father, his mother married Lieutenant General Gustav Adolf von Strantz in 1833 . His sister Fanny Julie Johanna Therese (1815–1888) was married to Infantry General Leopold Hermann von Boyen , his sister Antoinette (1813–1882) to Russian Major General Lasar Jakimovic von Lasarev († 1871).

Life

He was educated in the cadet corps in Berlin . In 1834 he attended the University of Bonn as an officer . From 1835 to 1843 he served in the 7th Uhlan Regiment . He was a royal innkeeper and owner of the Free Standesherrschaft Wartenberg in Silesia . He also created several artistic works for charity and published a work on military history.

In 1847 he was a member of the United Prussian Landtag , and from 1852 to 1854 of the First Chamber of the Prussian Landtag . On October 12, 1854 he was made a hereditary member of the Prussian manor house . He was also a member of the Silesian provincial assembly . From 1867 to 1871 he was a member of the Reichstag of the North German Confederation for the constituency of Breslau 3 ( Wartenberg , Oels ). In this capacity he was also a member of the Customs Parliament . He belonged to the Conservative Party .

family

He married Princess Helene Mestschersky (Jelena Vassiljevna Mestscherskaja) on August 6, 1845 (* January 14, 1820 - † October 7, 1905). The couple had a son:
