Candice Riley (born November 3, 1984 in Wanganui as Candice Hammond ) is a former rowing woman from New Zealand who later worked as a triathlete . She is included in the best list of New Zealand triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

Rowing 1999 to 2009

Candice Hammond used to be a rower. She has been rowing since 1999, competed for New Zealand in the 2002 World Rowing Championships for juniors in the eighth position and between 2004 and 2009 she was national rowing champion nine times.

Triathlon since 2010

As a professional triathlete, Hammond was mainly active in long distance competitions and she has been coached by Keegan Williams since 2010 .

In 2010 she started on the Ironman distance for the first time and in January 2014 she won the Challenge Wanaka in New Zealand - after finishing second in the long distance (3.86 km swimming, 180 km cycling and 42.195 km running) in the previous year . In June in Cairns, Australia, she also won the half Ironman distance (1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running).

Her son was born in March 2015 and soon after the baby break she started racing again. In January 2016 she became national runner-up in the middle distance triathlon. It has not appeared internationally since 2016.

She has been married to Elliot Riley since September 2016. Their second son was born in September 2017 and the four live in Cambridge .
