The Capanna del Monte Bar ( German Monte Bar Hut ) is a refuge in Val Colla in the municipality of Capriasca in the canton of Ticino . It stands in a promising location at 1602 m above sea level. M. under the summit of Monte Bar ( 1816 m above sea level ) in the Lugano Prealps .
history
The first hut was built in 1936 and renovated in 1993. The hut, newly built in 2016, is owned by the Ticino section of the Swiss Alpine Club . The compact hut made of larch wood has a low environmental impact and is connected to the electricity network for year-round operation.
The hut has a dining room for 60 people and a large panoramic terrace with tables. The 42 beds are divided into rooms with 2, 4 or 6 beds. A small seminar room has 20 seats. The hut is designed as a base for mountain bikers (lockable storage room, battery charging facility, small workshop in the bike hotel standard).
The panorama terrace overlooks Lugano and its surroundings, the foothills of the Alps, the Monvisodreieck , Monte Rosa and the peaks of the Ticino Alps .

- From Signôra , Val Colla, ( 748 m above sea level ) in 3 ½ hours.
- From Roveredo Capriasca , Val Colla, ( 994 m above sea level ) in 4 hours (T2).
The villages in Val Colla can be reached by public bus from Lugano.
