Carina Plath

Carina Plath (* 1966 in Münster ) is a German art historian and curator / deputy director; until 2009 director of the Westphalian Art Association and since 2010 curator of the Sprengelmuseum in Hanover .

Life

Carina Plath studied art history, classical archeology and Romance studies in Münster, Bologna , Munich and Bochum . She did her doctorate on the open concept of the work of Maria Nordman's spaces and southern Californian art of the 1970s at the Ruhr University in Bochum . From 1999 to 2001 she completed Curatorial Studies at Bard College in New York.

From 1994 to 2005 she taught as a lecturer at the universities in Wuppertal , Berlin and Graz as well as at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . From 2005 Plath worked as a curator for contemporary art at the Westphalian State Museum for Art and Cultural History in Münster. Since 2010 she has been deputy director and curator for painting and sculpture at the Sprengel Museum Hannover. In 2007 she was (with Kasper König and Brigitte Franzen ) curator of the Skulptur.Projekte , Münster .

Plath is married to the art historian Olaf Peters .
