Carl Peter Wilhelm Gramberg (also Karl ; born September 24, 1797 in Seefeld , † March 29, 1830 in Züllichau ) was a German Old Testament scholar and educator .

Life

Gramberg was the son of a preacher but was an orphan at an early age . He graduated from the Oldenburg High School and switched to the University of Halle to study theology and oriental languages ​​in 1816 . There he was particularly under the influence of Wilhelm Gesenius and Julius August Ludwig Wegscheider . After completing his studies, he first became a private tutor , then a public teacher in Oldenburg .

Gramberg received in 1822 a reputation as a senior teacher at the Pädagogium in Züllichau. Shortly before he took up this position, he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD . In addition to his teaching activities, he devoted himself to writing in order to prepare for his academic career. His early death prevented entry into this.

His work Libri Geneseos secundum ... , published in 1828, was placed on the index of forbidden books by decree of the Roman Catholic Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in 1829 .
