Live and act

After graduating from the secondary school in Leer and four years of practical training, he studied agriculture at the University of Göttingen from 1924 to 1927 . This was followed by two years as a breeding manager in a company near Göttingen with a herd of German noble pigs , where he was able to collect material for his later dissertation. After a short employment in the animal breeding institute of the University of Göttingen (with Jonas Schmidt ) he worked from 1929 as animal breeding inspector and scientific assistant at the Prussian experimental and research institute for animal breeding in Tschechnitz near Breslau (director: Wilhelm Zorn ). He received his doctorate in 1933 from the University of Göttingen. phil. In 1935 he became co- tenant of the Ruthe domain near Hildesheim and in 1940 the tenant of the Hofschwicheldt domain near Rosenthal , Peine district, with a farm of 280 hectares. Here he built successful breeding of black and white lowland cattle , merino meat sheep , Cornwall and German noble pigs , warm-blooded and cold-blooded horses as well as poultry and was thus able to successfully apply his scientific knowledge in agricultural practice. This gave him great recognition among his professional colleagues and in numerous voluntary committees.
