Carl von Dehn-Rotfelser

Jacob Arnold Carl von Dehn-Rotfelser (born June 2, 1808 at Busengraben farm near Vacha , † June 3, 1881 in Kassel ) was a German lawyer and politician.

Life

Dehn-Rotfelser was the son of the Hersfeld lawyer Karl Dehn-Rotfelser (1747-1818) and his wife Elisabeth Wüst. In 1842 he married Emilie Freiin von Wrede (1821–1902), the daughter of the gentleman on Würgassen and Deissel von Wrede. The marriage had five children. Ludwig (1846–1929) became district administrator and Wilhelm (1850–1932) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Carl Dehn-Rotfelser received for his family and his brothers on May 10, 1836, the Hessian nobility confirmation as "von Dehn-Rotfelser".

Dehn-Rotfelser studied law in Marburg from 1826 . In 1829 he was with the work "de fideicommisso familiae rite tollenda" to Dr. jur. PhD. From 1829 to 1832 he was a private lecturer and faculty assistant at the University of Göttingen . In 1832 he was an assessor in Rotenburg / Fulda and in 1833 an assessor with a voice in the Rotenburg justice office . From 1834 to 1841 he was senior court assessor in Hanau . Between 1841 and the March Revolution in 1848 he was a senior judge in Kassel , and in 1848 he was briefly a senior appellate judge at the Kassel Higher Appeal Court . Between 1848 and 1851 he was put on hold and advisor to the elector. He rose to important offices in the Reaction Era. From 1851 to 1862 he was Procurator General, and in 1862 he became head of the Ministry of Finance and Council of State. In 1862/1863 he was head of government as director of the state ministry and finance minister from 1863 to 1865. In addition, he was twice representative of the Interior Minister in 1861 and of the Foreign Minister in 1862/63. He was then put on hold and lived in Kassel until his death.

He was holder of the Order of the Red Eagle 1st Class and Commander's Cross 2nd Class of the House Order of the Golden Lion .
