Carlo Montanaro

Carlo Montanaro (born in Cecina ) is an Italian violinist and conductor . He concentrates on Italian operas from bel canto to verismo and also conducts selected works from the French repertoire.

life and work

Montanaro completed his studies as a violinist at the Conservatorio di Musica Luigi Cherubini in Florence and began his musical career in the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in 1991. He was discovered and promoted by Zubin Mehta , came to the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna , where he studied conducting for three years with Leopold Hager , Ervin Acél and Takuo Yuasa .

Since 2001 he has appeared at numerous opera houses around the world:

From 2011 to 2014 he worked as music director at Teatr Wielki in Warsaw.

He also takes on regular concert engagements, again focusing on works from the Italian repertoire, such as Verdi's Messa da Requiem . He has made guest appearances at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Herkulessaal in Munich and the Graz Music Association .
