Carlo Peda

Carlo Peda CRSP (born August 18, 1767 in Camerino as Giuseppe Girolamo Peda , † July 21, 1843 in Assisi ) was an Italian religious , superior general of the Barnabites and bishop of Assisi .

Life

He entered the Barnabite order and took the order name Carlo. He made his profession on November 27, 1787 in Zagarolo. From 1814 to 1821 he was rector of Macerata University . He became Provincial of the Order of Rome and was the 52nd Superior General of his Order from 1829 to 1835. During this time he served the Curia as a consultor of the Congregation for Rites and the Holy Office . After the end of his tenure as a general of the order, he was deputy superior general.

Pope Gregory XVI appointed him Bishop of Assisi on July 12, 1841. He was ordained bishop on July 18 of the same year in Rome by Cardinal Luigi Lambruschini CRSP; Co-consecrators were the Archbishops Fabio Maria Asquini , Secretary of the Congregation for Bishops and Regulars , and Lodovico Altieri , Apostolic Nuncio in Vienna. On July 20, 1842 Carlo Peda became papal assistant to the throne .

Carlo Peda participated in the beatification process for Vincenzo Maria Strambi (1745-1824), formerly Bishop of Macerata .
