Carlo l'Ami

Carlo l'Ami (born July 20, 1966 in Leiden , South Holland ) is a Dutch goalkeeping coach and former goalkeeper . Since 2007 he has been training the keeper of the AFC Ajax from Amsterdam .

Career

L'Ami's first professional club was Excelsior from Rotterdam , for whom he guarded the goal in the Eredivisie five times in the 1986/87 season . After relegation, he became a regular goalkeeper in the Eerste Divisie . In the winter of 1988/89 he moved back to the top division to PSV from Eindhoven , where he was used twice as a replacement for the injured Hans van Breukelen and was able to celebrate the championship at the end of the season. In the following years he played for various second division clubs before returning to the Eredivisie at Sparta Rotterdam in 1992 , albeit again for only two games. In 1993, l'Ami moved to the promoted sc Heerenveen , where he was active for two and a half seasons in the top division. From the beginning of 1996, Cambuur , Telstar and again Excelsior followed again for a few years in the Eerste Divisie. In 2002, l'Ami signed a contract with honorary division Feyenoord ; with the Rotterdamers he ended his career with three missions in the 2002/03 season . His last professional game was on December 7th, 2002 when he played at his former club sc Heerenveen, where he had to leave the field injured after nine minutes and thus involuntarily helped 17-year-old Jesper Hogedoorn to get his only professional appearance.

After his professional career, l'Ami became a goalkeeping coach at Excelsior and at the same time worked as a youth goalkeeper coach at Feyenoord. He has been the goalkeeping coach of the AFC Ajax first team since 2007. His contract with the Amsterdam team runs until 2014.
