Carlos Perón (born June 9, 1952 in Zurich ) is a Swiss musician and co-founder of the band Yello .

Life

Carlos Perón was born in Zurich in 1952 as the son of a businessman and a restaurateur. From the first grade Carlos Perón received classical flute lessons. After completing secondary school, Carlos Perón trained as a businessman.

From 1964 he started collecting electronic music. In the 1960s he saw a concert by Karlheinz Stockhausen in the Verkehrshaus Luzern. The cycle communion and intensity inspired him so much that he decided to produce electronic music himself. His first LP Impersonator I contains some « musique concrète » compositions.

Carlos Perón started out as the keyboardist of the Zurich new wave formation Urland around drummer Sternini , bassist Ron Styler and guitarist Boris Blank . After the group split up, Perón founded the TRANCEONIC Studio in Zurich with Boris Blank. In 1978 Carlos Perón and Boris Blank went on a trip to the USA. They attended the RCA in Los Angeles and the Residents' Ralph Records label in San Francisco . After their return, Dieter Meier introduced himself to them as a singer.

In 1979 the studio moved to Dieter Meier's studio and the Trio Yello was founded. The first maxi single with IT Splash and Glue Head was released by Perifery Perfume Records Zurich. In 1980 the US label Ralph Records released the first Yello LP Solid Pleasure . In 1981, Carlos Perón's first solo LP followed on the competition label at Phonogram . There Yello received a major deal through its managing director Louis Spillmann. In the same year the Yello LP Claro que si , the soundtrack for Dieter Meier's film Jetzt und alles , and Yello's first video for the track The Evening's Young were released. In 1983, Perón released the soundtrack for the film The Black Spider by director Mark Rissi on the Milan disques label . At the same time, the third Yello LP You Gotta Say Yes to Another Excess was released.

In 1984 Carlos Perón left Yello to pursue a variety of solo projects and founded the Kristall Sound label . In 1985 he published his oratorio The Creation of the World; or 7 days of God again on Milan disques . On the same label he released the video soundtrack for the film Commando Leopard by Erwin C. Dietrich .

From 1985 Carlos Perón devoted himself to the gold project, which he published in 1989 at Teldec . In 1988 he started his Impersonator series on the Play it again label ; Sam in Brussels. In 1990 Perón composed the music for the TV show Schmidtanders .

From 1991 he worked with label boss Lothar Gärtner from Strange Ways Records . Perón has produced solo albums for Strange Ways and groups like Wolfsheim .

Perón works worldwide as a music producer in various studios.
