The village of Tauch am Wechsel is on the Styrian-Lower Austrian border at the foot of the Wechsel . It is divided into the village of Steirisch-diving in the municipality of Pinggau in the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district of Styria , and the village of diving in the municipality of Mönichkirchen in the Neunkirchen district of Lower Austria. The place is one of the few in Austria that is located in two federal states .

geography

The Lower Austrian village of diving is 642  m above sea level. A. southeast of Schaueregg north of the diving stream . South of the diving stream, the village (classified out of date as scattered houses by Statistics Austria ) bears the name Steirisch-diving  (around 656  m above sea level ), which, together with the individual layers Steinhof and Sommer in the southeast, forms a separate administrative locality . The place comprises a total of around 100 buildings with around 230 inhabitants, of which around ¼ live in the Lower Austrian village and the others in the Styrian part. The state border runs largely along the diving stream.

The current official designation "Styrian diving" became natural with the beginning of the Second World War ; until 1938 this district was called Gstetten .

The stop of the Wechselbahn , which is located directly in the Styrian part of the village, is called diving-Schaueregg . The place has the Burgenland postcode 7421, because when it was assigned it was confused with the place diving in the Burgenland municipality Mariasdorf . There are also two local telephone codes: Friedberg 03339 and Mönichkirchen 02649.

The place can be reached from Wechselstraße, from the Schäffern junction of the A 2 (Exit 87) and from Mönichkirchen on the north side of the Wechsel Pass.

Diving-Schaueregg station

Diving-Schaueregg station

The reception building of the local train station ( 649  m above sea level ) is a listed building . It comes from the construction of the Wechselbahn in the 1900s (inauguration October 12, 1910) and is a representative representative of the Austro-Hungarian train station architecture. The late historicist design language of the late founding period is characteristic . The building is profiled canopy uprights , fretwork ornaments and kleinfacettierten windows, as well as for summer getaways -Houses of home style with their porches is typical.

Another identically constructed station building is under protection at the Wechselbahn, namely the Ausschlag-Zöbern station .
