Carry Sass , bourgeois Kerstin Saß (born August 24, 1966 in Altlandsberg , Strausberg district ) is a German singer and entertainer .

Life

Carry Sass grew up in Mecklenburg as the daughter of an orchestral musician and a headmistress. From the age of 5 she received piano lessons, after graduating from high school, she studied for four years at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin . With the state examination she began her singing career as a state-certified entertainer in the GDR , which initially led her to a rock band.

Shortly thereafter, she received an offer from the Cottbus State Theater , the Sally Bowles in the musical Cabaret to play. This was followed by a multi-year engagement in the Metropol-Theater (Berlin-Mitte) , where she performed in several musicals ( Ninotschka - The Wizard of Oz ) until its closure in 1997 . Sass was seen with the revue Bomb Mood in 1994 at the Theater des Westens in Berlin. In the same year she played the Buhlschaft im Jedermann by Hugo von Hofmannsthal in the Berlin Cathedral, directed by Brigitte Grothum .

The German Theater Munich engaged her in 2001 for Victor and Victoria , with which she also appeared at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe . Sass played the role of Eliza Doolittle in the musical My Fair Lady on guest appearances and theater tours between 1987 and 1997 . In the meantime she has performed over 800 cabaret performances, including 2004 to 2005 at the Graz Opera House and on a European tour through five countries.

Shortly after the fall of the Wall in the former GDR, on March 10, 1990, she hosted the 103rd Kessel Buntes on German TV (DFF), which she presented under her real name, Kerstin Saß. Later she became Harald Juhnke's stage partner under the artist name Carry Sass, which she chose herself, and appeared in several television shows alongside Diether Krebs .
