Independence from the music industry

Blanton is co-founder of an online tool for the music industry: the "Quidplayer" is an MP3 player and distribution platform based on the "pay what you please" principle. The Quidplayer enables listeners to purchase pieces of music directly from the artists and to pay a price they set themselves.

Blanton developed the Quidplayer in 2008 together with Jon Darvill. In her online bio, Blanton explains this approach as follows: “My true calling as an artist is to share ... What I actually want to do is make beautiful music and then give it to everyone, regardless of what they give me back. ” Since 2011, Blanton has used “pay what you please” for all of her music releases (digital and physical). She publishes her music under a Creative Commons license (CC BY-NC 3.0 US).
