Carsten Sostmeier (* 1960 in Salmünster , Hessen ) is a German sports commentator for ARD , specializing in equestrian sports .

Life

Sostmeier grew up in Steinau an der Straße and graduated from the humanistic Ulrich von Hutten grammar school in Schlüchtern . Sostmeier is a trained banker and subsequently worked in the forwarding and logistics sector.

He himself was active as a show jumper up to advanced level, but had to end his athletic career at the age of 21 due to back problems. He then began as an announcer at rural tournaments.

Discovered and promoted by Sportschau co-founder Addi Furler , himself an equestrian expert, especially in trotting, Sostmeier initially worked as a freelance sports commentator from 1990. Since 1991 he has been a specialist in equestrian sport, alternating with Hartmann von der Tann for years , at the broadcasters of the ARD . He is also still active as a tournament announcer at horse shows and moderator at events.

Awards
