It was 1947 / 48 in the street General Francisco Ramírez in Tacubaya , a suburb of Mexico City , built and provides an excellent example of a building after the Second World War. The mainly created in concrete construction building consists of a ground floor and two upper floors and a small private garden facing west.

In 2004 Casa Barragán was added to the World Heritage List . The jury based its decision on the fact that Barragán's house and studio represented a masterpiece of the new developments in the modern architectural style, integrating traditional, philosophical and artistic currents in a new synthesis. The work of Barragán shows the integration of modern and traditional influences, which have had an important impact especially on the design of gardens and urban landscaping.
