Casey Smith (born February 5, 1992 in Winthrop ) is an American biathlete .

Casey Smith lives in Fort Kent . He attended Montana State University , where he was also part of the NCAA ski team . He started skiing as a toddler. He started biathlon at the age of ten. He has been part of the US National B team since 2014 and trains at the Maine Winter Sports Center , for which he also competes . Previously he was active for Methow Valley Biathlon .

Smith took part in four biathlon junior world championships between 2010 and 2013 and achieved at least one top 40 results each and two top 40 results in 2013 in Obertilliach . The best result was a 23rd place in the pursuit in 2013. At the junior races of the North American Invitational 2012 in Jericho , he was third behind Ethan Dreissigacker and Raileigh Goessling in the pursuit race and second in the mass start race behind Dreissigacker. At the North American Championships in 2013 in Whistler , he was runner- up in all three races of North American junior champions, behind Macx Davies and ahead of Menno Arendz . At the European Junior Biathlon Championships 2012 in Osrblie , a 15th place in the individual was the best result, in 2013 in Bansko 37th place in the sprint.

Smith made his debut in the IBU Cup in 2014 in a double week of competition in Ridnaun and finished 45th in his first race of a sprint, and in the last sprint he achieved his best result so far in this racing series as 44th. The first international championship was the 2014 European Biathlon Championships in Nové Město na Moravě . Casey finished 22nd in the individual, 30th and 40th in the sprint of the pursuit race.

In 2010 and 2011 he also took part in several races of the US Super Tour in cross-country skiing without achieving any notable successes.
