Ethan Dreissigacker (born February 14, 1991 ) is an American biathlete and cross-country skier .

Private life

Ethan Dreissigacker lives in Morrisville and starts for Dartmouth Big Green Skiing at university and for the Craftsbury Nordic Ski Club at club level. His mother Judy Geer took part as a rower in the 1976 and 1984 Olympic Games , his father Dick Dreissigacker is a five-time American rowing champion, took part in the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich and later founded the rowing and cross-country skiing outfitter with Ethan's uncle Peter Concept2 . His sisters Hannah (* 1986) and Emily (* 1988) were also active as biathletes.

Athletic career

Ethan Dreissigacker contested his first international championships at the Junior World Championships in Ruhpolding in 2008 and was 20th in the individual, 70th in the sprint and 19th in the relay race. A year later at Canmore he was 26th in the individual, 41st in the sprint, 42nd in the pursuit and eighth in the relay. In Torsby he took part in his third Junior World Championships in 2010 and came in 43rd in the individual, 45th in the sprint and was 36th in the pursuit race. In 2010 Dreissigacker was in Nové Město na Moravě 38th of the individual, 59th of the sprint, 56th of the pursuit and again 19 with the relay. It was followed by the junior races of the open European championships in 2011 in Ridnaun in which he was 48th of the sprint, 39th Chase and with Grace Boutot , Corrine Malcolm and Raileigh Goessling eleventh with the lapped US mixed relay. In the individual he was disqualified. The last international championships were the 2012 Junior World Championships in Kontiolahti . Dreissigacker was 53rd of the individual, 20th of the sprint, 30th of the pursuit and season 14.

At the continental level Dreissigacker was the winner of the youth races in sprint and pursuit at the Summer Biathlon North American Championships 2009 in Jericho . It was also the US championships where Dreissigacker also won. At the 2012 North American Invitational in Jericho, he won the junior pursuit and mass start races.

Dreissigacker had his breakthrough in the men's performance area in the 2012/13 season in the Biathlon NorAm Cup . At the races in Lake Placid he reached the podium for the first time in the pursuit race behind Marc-André Bédard and Michael Gibson as third place.

Dreissigacker has been taking part in cross-country skiing since the beginning of 2009. He competes in FIS races and the US Super Tour , in Craftsbury he won a sprint on the US Super Tour in March 2012.
