Caspar Ferdinand Droste zu Füchten (born November 21, 1713 ; † June 9, 1774 in Hildesheim ) was canon of various cathedral chapters , vicar general , court chamber president and cathedral dean in Münster .

Life

His parents were Ernst Dietrich Anton von Droste zu Füchten and Ursula Sibylla von Plettenberg zu Lenhausen . This made him nephew of the Minister Ferdinand von Plettenberg . One of his brothers was Friedrich Ferdinand Droste zu Füchten . Another Friedrich Wilhelm Droste to Fear . He received his first tonsure in 1727. As a result of papal commission, he became canon in Hildesheim in 1728. He was also canon in Münster and Paderborn . He was also archdeacon of Stadtlohn , provost of Soest and between 1761 and 1770 vicar general of the diocese of Münster .

He also served in the secular government of the bishopric of Münster and was a privy councilor . From 1743 he was adjunct master hunter and from 1761 master hunter of the bishopric of Münster. In 1760 he became president of the court chamber. As such, he was responsible for the financial supervision of the construction of the Munster Palace . He was also a royal Prussian secret council.

After the death of Clemens August I of Bavaria in 1761, he ran for the office of Bishop of Münster in 1762. At times he had a good chance of being elected, but eventually lost to Maximilian Friedrich von Königsegg-Rothenfels .

In 1770 he was elected cathedral dean in Münster. Since he had previously only had the ordination of a subdeacon , he was ordained a priest. Thereupon he gave up the positions of court chamber president and master hunter.
