Caspar von Eickstedt (born June 2, 1602 , † August 3, 1632 or December 2, 1632 near Leipzig ) was district administrator in the Duchy of Pomerania .

Life

Caspar von Eickstedt was a son of Viv Intelligence von Eickstedt (1559–1623), hereditary treasurer in the Duchy of Pomerania-Stettin, from his second marriage to Euphemia von Eickstedt († 1606). He attended the pedagogy in Szczecin . From 1618 he studied at the University of Heidelberg . In 1621 he traveled through the Netherlands , France and England . Because of the closure of the University of Heidelberg , he went to the University of Frankfurt (Oder) . Between 1621 and 1623 he was a cornet in the personal company of Duke Christian von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel and fought at Bergen op Zoom , among others .

After the death of his father, he went to Pomerania to settle inheritance matters and to equip himself to continue his military service. Because of the defeat of Christian von Braunschweig in the battle of Stadtlohn , the plans to return to his army were dashed. He therefore served as a lieutenant in one of the military contingents set up in Pomerania under Jürgen von Heyden . In 1626 he was appointed knightly district administrator.

After the occupation of Pomerania by imperial troops, he turned down various offers to enter their military service. He temporarily joined the Swedish troops landed in Pomerania under King Gustav II Adolf . While on a trip to the king in regional affairs, he was shot by unknown persons near Leipzig in 1632. He was buried in Coblentz on December 14, 1632.

Caspar von Eickstedt was the master of Koblentz , Tantow , Krugsdorf , Rothenklempenow , Hohenholz and Radekow .

He was married to Esther von Wedell († October 27, 1629), daughter of Lupold von Wedell auf Kremptzow and Anna von Eickstedt. The two had two daughters who died in childhood and a son († 1632), whose wife died in his birth.
