The Cass Township is one of 22 townships in Clayton County in the eastern part of the US -amerikanischen state of Iowa . In 2010 the Cass Township had 1689 inhabitants. It is named after the politician Lewis Cass .

geography

Cass Township is around 50 km west of the Mississippi , which forms the border with Wisconsin . The border with Illinois is about 80 km east-southeast.

The Cass Township is located at 42 ° 41 '  N , 91 ° 33'  W and extends over 95.09 km².

The Cass Township is located in the extreme southwest of Clayton County and is bordered by Fayette County to the west, Buchanan County to the southwest and Delaware County to the south . Within Clayton County, the Cass Township is bordered by the Sperry Township in the north, the Cox Creek Township in the northeast and the Lodomillo Township in the east .

Iowa Highways 3 and 13 meet in Cass Township . All other roads within the township are subordinate and partly unpaved roads.

With the Elkader Municipal Airport Cass Township is located about 25 km north-east a small regional airport. The nearest major airport is Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids (around 110 km south).

According to the 2010 census , Cass Township had 1,689 people in 709 households. The population density was 17.8 inhabitants per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.31 people lived in each of the 709 households.
