The Delaware County is a county in the US -amerikanischen State Iowa . In 2010 , the county had 17,764 residents and a population density of 11.9 people per square kilometer. By 2013 the population had decreased to 17,534. The county seat is Manchester .
geography
The county is located in northeast Iowa, is in the northeast about 20 km from the Mississippi , which forms the border with Wisconsin and Illinois . Delaware County covers an area of 1,500 square kilometers, of which three square kilometers are water.
The Maquoketa River , a right tributary of the Mississippi, flows through the county from northwest to southeast .

Delaware County was formed in 1837. It was probably named after the origin of some of the settlers, Delaware County in New York .
