The county is located in northwest Iowa, about 50 km to the west from Nebraska , and covers an area of ​​1,119 square kilometers, one square kilometer of which is water. It borders on the following neighboring counties:

history

Ida County was formed on January 15, 1851. It was probably named after Ida Smith , the first child of European immigrants to be born in the area.
