The Sac County is a county in the US -amerikanischen State Iowa . In 2010 , the county had 10,350 people and a population density of 6.9 people per square kilometer. By 2015 the population had decreased to 10,021. The county seat is Sac City .
geography
The county is located in the central northwest of Iowa and is traversed in a north-south direction by the northern headwaters of the Raccoon River , which belongs to the Mississippi catchment area via the Des Moines River .
Sac County covers an area of 1,498 square kilometers, of which seven square kilometers are water.

Sac County was formed on January 15, 1851 from former parts of Greene County. It was named after the Native American people of the Sac .

As of the 2010 census , Sac County had 10,350 people in 4,482 households. The population density was 6.9 inhabitants per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.26 people lived in each of the 4482 households.
The racial the population in 2015 was composed of 98.0 percent white, 0.3 percent African American, 0.2 percent Native American, 0.4 percent Asian and 0.1 Polynesian; 1.0 percent were descended from two or more races. Regardless of ethnicity, 2.8 percent of the population was Hispanic or Latino of any race.
22.6 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 54.9 percent were between 18 and 64 and 22.5 percent were 65 years or older. 50.6 percent of the population were female.
